EuroCC2: “National/Supercomputing days/Dynamization sessions/equivalent”

“Do’s & Dont’s”  the 1st workshop:
“National/Supercomputing days/Dynamization sessions/equivalent”
Monday – March 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM CET

  • The concept is to share what worked or not, on various topics (approaches for boarding new users, customers journey, technical parts) when it comes to interact with industry and how to benefit from the lessons learned of the network.
The first session will be about the NCCs experiences and feedbacks on organizing events to reach out specifically to industry prospects and to see depending on the type of events, how many attendees participated, if there were any follow-up projects, what was the successes, etc.
  • The agenda is: presentation by experienced NCCs (already contacted upfront) of their feedbacks and lessons learned  and Q&A interaction to exchange on this together.
  • A calendar invitation with registration/dial-in details is sent in parallel.

EuroCC2 – NCC Austria Webinar on 6 March: LLMs for business

Date: 06 March 2024, 14:00 – 16:00 CET
EuroCC2: The HPC lab team will participate in the webinar European AI Applications – Large Language Models for Business

Webinar info & registration:
https://events.vsc.ac.at/event/121/registrations/115/

Two speakers  will present business use cases, discuss the impact of AI for businesses and even show a LIVE DEMO – the CEO of hercules.ai will show how their “AI employees” work. Hercules.ai came to us through the Supercomputing Accelerator and is collaborating with EuroCC Sweden and Austria.

Quantum Computing: From Research to Industry

Tuesday, February 27th, 2024
11:00 – 13:00 (Sofia Time)

Organized jointly by NCC France and NCC Netherlands, this webinar aims to introduce the technologies of Quantum Computing and present the challenges and perspectives.

After an introduction, this webinar will address quantum gate-based computing, annealers, analog computing, and quantum simulation. French Ecosystem and the HQI program (France Hybrid HPC Quantum Initiative) which aims to provide free access to HPC-Quantum infrastructures for the needs of open, academic and industrial research, will be presented.

New article published using HPC-lab resources

Dr. Ivan Hristov and Dr. Radoslava Hristova  have revisited the problem of Three-body periodic collisionless equal-mass free-fall orbits, using high-accuracy numerical methods and a high-performance computer (Nestum cluster, Sofia Tech Park, Bulgaria http://hpc-lab.sofiatech.bg/) and have  found that(1) 15,738 i.c.s corresponding to 12,409 distinct solutions with T ∗ < 80. We use morerestrictive condition on the periods than Li and Liao: T < min(7, 80/|E|3/2).(2) When we apply time evolution of the (primary) i.c.s up to one half-period, we easily find8844 additional i.c.s., bringing the number of i.c.s up to 24,582. Some of the additionalorbits are ones that are missed by the search, but others are with T > 7 and T ∗ < 80.Therefore by applying this procedure we compensate to some extent that we use theless time consuming condition: T < min(7, 80/|E|3/2) instead of the ultimate one:T < 80/|E|3/2 . Now only 236 solutions (∼ 2%) are identified as self-dual, whichcontrast to the large number ∼ 43% of Li and Liao.(3) Certain partitioning of i.c.s within Agekyan–Anosova domain D, which are in agreementwith Tanikawa et al.’s division of D by 3-cylinders and 4-cylinders.(4) Distinct upper and lower bounds on the periods of orbits as (linear) functions of the length of symbolic sequence (word length)

Thrace Engineering Group visit

13.02.2024
10:00 – 11:00

The Thrace Engineering Group representatives visited the HPC lab to discuss projects of mutual interest in the field of sensors design. Financing from an international research agency is discussed. The University of Sofia, Faculty of Physics will be a partner as well.

HPC-lab visit on 7.02.2024

7.02.2024.
13:00-15:30

The HPC lab was visited by Dr. K.Kostov, a former researcher at the University of Chicago, who currently is investing in spin-off companies. Possibilities for using the HPC lab resources for training physical chemists working for pharmacy were in the focus.
